Mary Knight, Writer and Creative Director

My ad career began at The Richards Group. After several years in Dallas working with clients like American Airlines, Pace Foods, Tabasco and GTE, I moved to Borders Perrin Norrander (now Draftfcb Seattle) and was named Executive Creative Director in 1997.

There, I was part of the team that pitched and won Hewlett Packard Supplies, Tacoma Guitars, Noble House Hotels and Group Health in the U.S. I also won and ran international business for Boeing, Washington State Tourism and Baxter Bioscience. I moved to Chicago in December of 2007 to run Qwest communications and Kraft. While in Chicago I have also led the Motorola, and Nestlè pizza business in the U.S., and Boeing and Sharpie globally. Through Draftfcb, I have been a frequent participant and leader in creative rumbles: a team hand selected from the network’s top global creative talent to crack our client’s toughest creative challenges.

My work has been honored at shows including Cannes, The One Show, Clios, D&AD, ADDYs and Effies. I've been featured in Communication Arts, ARCHIVE, Print, Best Spots, Creativity Pick of the Day, 1492 Cultura Creativa, the Wall Street Journal and all of the standard industry pubs. While in Seattle I served as a faculty member at the School of Visual Concepts-Seattle and chaired the judging committee for the Seattle Show. I have sat on juries for several awards shows including Communication Arts, the Effies, The Lotus Awards in Vancouver BC, the Eagle Awards in Mexico City and the National ADDYs.
